Read It Later Now Called Pocket!
Many of you who use Read It Later (the mobile/web app that allows you to save articles to read offline later), may have noticed that the app has had a HUGE update. By that I mean, the app changed it’s interface, added some new features, and of course changed it’s name!
The app’s design is now much simpler and looks a lot more compact compared to the previous version. The image on the left is what Read It Later used to look like and the picture on the right is what Pocket looks like now. (Click Images to Enlarge)
Some of the app’s new features include the ability to save articles from 300 apps including Twitter, Pulse, and Flipboard. This offline article reader is the first to develop such a useful feature. Saving articles from Twitter will always come in handy for me. I’m always browsing through tweets, finding article links, and having to keep the article open in Safari so I may read it later. Plus, many people love Flipboard (a popular news reader app available in the Apple App Store) and since Pocket can now save articles from this app, Pocket will most likely be boosting up it’s user base! Another great feature added is the ability to now save videos!
So why did Read It Later, “Pocket” the name? Well, simply just re-branding. In my opinion, this is just what Read It Later needed. With already 4.5 million registered users, Pocket will become even bigger. With it’s new name, it’s new design, and new app integrations, it’s definitely making a comeback!
By the way, here’s a quick tip. If you’re already a Read It Later user and have the bookmarklet saved on your phone, all you need to do is change the name to Pocket in your bookmarks and everything still works the same. I tried it on my iPhone and I can save stuff without having to reinstall anything.
